Ms. Michelle Alzamora
Dear Families,
We're excited to share some insights gleaned from recent MAP and common reading and writing assessments! It's important to remember that these assessments are just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding student learning. We consider multiple data points throughout the year to create a holistic picture.
The good news? Our students continue to impress! The assessments revealed that our learners are performing above the national norms in reading, language arts, and math. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and teachers.
This year, we saw outstanding growth in math scores compared to previous years. We believe this surge can be attributed to two key factors: the implementation of a new, engaging math program and an increased focus on math instruction.
However, our reading growth didn't quite reach the usual highs. While reading scores remain above average, the growth trajectory was not as significant as we've typically seen. We believe this is likely due to the increased time dedicated to math instruction.
In the coming fall, we'll be carefully reviewing how we spend time in classes to ensure that reading and math instruction both remain a top priority. Our goal is to continue fostering strong readers and mathematicians
Yours,
Michelle
Sunshine and fresh air are a recipe for a fun recess, but protecting your child's skin from the sun's rays is essential. That's where hats come in!
Here at ACS, we encourage all students to wear hats during outdoor play. A wide-brimmed hat or legionnaire style hat is recommended for the best protection. Not only do hats shade your child's face and neck, but they also help keep their head cool and comfortable.
Sun Safety Matters!
Sun exposure, especially during peak hours, can lead to sunburn, premature aging, and even increase the risk of skin cancer. Hats are a simple and effective way to minimize these risks and ensure your child can enjoy recess safely.
Don't Forget to Label It!
With all the excitement of recess, hats can sometimes get lost. To help make sure your child's hat finds its way back home safely, please label it clearly with their name.
Working Together for Sun Safety
By working together, we can ensure all our students enjoy a fun and sun-safe recess. So pack that hat, label it with [Child's Name], and let the playtime begin!

The most important gift you can give your child to support their continued learning journey? Encourage them to read daily over the summer break! Daily reading is the single most important factor in language development and reading comprehension.
Chances are your child's emotions fluctuate quite often! Over time, this may make you feel stuck as a parent around how to support your child and yourself in addressing emotional outbursts. It is taxing work.
To possibly help, we've added another tool to our ES Counseling Website - Check out these Tools to Try posters you can print and hang in your home to remind yourself and family members that there are tools you can use. The tools are best used together, as a family - not just for the kids!
We are here and happy to support you if you have any questions or would like to discuss ways to create a calmer home environment.
