Mr. Billy Thomas
Our course selection process is now in full swing, and it has been wonderful to hear students discussing their interests for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. As a reminder, this is a vital time to sit down with your child and discuss their future. Please ensure that all completed forms are submitted to Advisory teachers by February 1. We look forward to finalizing these plans and helping our students step confidently into their next grade level.
As we head into next week, we are thrilled to officially launch our new Explore 2.0 program! Our afternoon "Explore" time has been reimagined to offer students even more autonomy and a wider range of diverse, hands-on learning opportunities. This program is designed to ignite curiosity, allow students to pursue interests outside the traditional curriculum, or provide short term support for academic and organizational needs. and we are already seeing the positive impact of this refreshed approach to afternoon learning.
As we continue to evaluate and evolve our Middle School practices, your feedback is essential. We are looking for parent volunteers to participate in Focus Groups to help inform our future strategies and school culture. Your insights ensure that our school remains a place where every student feels seen and supported. If you are interested in sharing your perspective, please take a moment to fill out our Focus Group Interest Form [Link Here]. We deeply value your partnership and look forward to working together to make ACS the best it can be. Once we have our interest submissions, we will reach back out with next steps and more information. Thank you in advance for your feedback and partnership.
Seventh-grade mathematicians have been stretching their thinking in a big way! Recently, students used a variety of models—graphing, patterns, situations, and area model representations—to use the ideas from the rules of a positive times a positive is positive and then extend that reasoning to prove that a negative times a negative is also positive. Rather than memorizing a rule, students built the idea step by step, explaining their thinking and justifying their conclusions.
MS COURSE SELECTION
Thank you to the families who braved the inclement weather on Wednesday evening to join us for our Middle School Course Selection Evening. We truly appreciate your engagement in your child's academic journey!
For those who were unable to attend, or if you simply want to revisit the details, we invite you to watch the session recordings below:

ATTENTION GRADE 8
Our Grade 8 Social Studies students are stepping back in time, and they need your help to bring history to life. You are cordially invited to attend our Grade 8 Colony Recruitment Fair.
The Mission
Nine student groups have been tasked with "selling" their colony to prospective settlers. They’ve been working hard on persuasive pitches, historical research, and even some "goody bags" to sweeten the deal.
Your Role
As a guest, you’ll visit student booths, enjoy their presentations, and provide feedback. We encourage you to dig deep and ask 2–3 guiding questions about:
Geography: Why settle here?
Economy: How will we make a living?
Persuasion: Why is this colony better than the rest?
Historical Accuracy: Is this the real 17th century?

PREPARING FOR SNOW DAYS
As we move into colder weather, we wanted to remind you of our Snow Day process.
If we are notified “last-minute,” there will be no learning expectations set for your children that day.
If we have advanced notice and/or if the snow day extends to multiple days, then Middle and High School students could expect the following:
Online learning from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., regular rotation schedule.
Teachers will post assignments and instructions on Google Classroom by 10:00 a.m., designed for students to work independently at their own pace or synchronously with the teacher present via Google Meet.
During their assigned teaching blocks, teachers will be available online to provide one-on-one support through email, Google Meet, or chat.
We recognize that not all families may be able to participate fully in online learning due to potential outages. Please prioritize your child’s well-being, and know that our counselors are available via email for support if needed.
