Ms. Michelle Alzamora
Dear Families,
As summer approaches, we know many families are looking ahead to the next school year. Here at ACS, we're excited to see our students continue their academic journey at ACS or in their new schools!
This week, we hosted our annual "fly-up day," where students explored the classrooms and routines of the grade level above them. This glimpse into the future was a fantastic opportunity for them to ask questions, meet new teachers, and feel more confident about the upcoming year. For our leaving students, we held a special session with our school counselors.
Here are some ways you can continue the conversation about fly-up day and support your child's transition at home:
Talk about their experience. Ask your child what they learned during fly-up day. Were they surprised by anything? Did they see anything they're excited about?
Address any anxieties. It's normal for children to feel nervous about a new teacher, classroom, or workload. Listen to their concerns and reassure them that you'll be there to support them every step of the way.
Read together. Explore books about starting a new grade or overcoming challenges. This can spark discussions and help normalize the upcoming changes.
Stay positive! Your enthusiasm for the next year will set the tone for your child. Talk about the exciting new things they'll learn and the opportunities for growth that await them.
We understand that transitions can be challenging, but we're here to support you and your child every step of the way. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's current teacher or the school office.
Together, we can make the move to the next grade a smooth and positive experience!
Yours,
Michelle

Jamboree Recap
This past weekend was the ES Jamboree for Track and Field, Basketball, and Soccer with the basketball event being hosted at ACS. Thank you to all who came out to support our students here at ACS and our PTG Booster team who continue to bring the family feel. We were fortunate to have so many of our students get to experience competition in an environment on the court, pitch, and our track and field.
Chances are your child's emotions fluctuate quite often! Over time, this may make you feel stuck as a parent around how to support your child and yourself in addressing emotional outbursts. It is taxing work.
To possibly help, we've added another tool to our ES Counseling Website - Check out these Tools to Try posters you can print and hang in your home to remind yourself and family members that there are tools you can use. The tools are best used together, as a family - not just for the kids!
We are here and happy to support you if you have any questions or would like to discuss ways to create a calmer home environment.
