Dr. Jeff Wilusz
Good Afternoon
The entire High School is buzzing with action as we celebrate our Seniors completing one of their few remaining milestones this Thursday with their last day of class, gearing up for Service Week and BTC trips to Thailand and Cambodia, and finishing up AP exams. As mentioned in previous WGO’s, the month of May flies by, mostly due to the fact that there is so much going on.
We have always prided ourselves on the understanding/partnership/flexibility/encouragement of our parent community, and this has not been more evident than the past week. We can’t thank you enough for all the positive emails and phone calls regarding Service Week and embracing the fact that learning can look different and take place outside the classroom. We are always looking to improve our practice and this week is no different. When it is all said and done, please feel free to reach out and provide us with some feedback.
Attending AP classes after the AP exam
Work in AP classes will stop after the date of the AP Exam. These will become study hall periods.
You will be able to leave school if your AP class(es) take place at the end of the day. To do this you will need to go to your AP class and get a blue pass from the teacher. This will allow you to leave campus.
If you have two AP classes back to back you can leave at the start of the first one.
If you have a study hall adjacent to an AP class you do not have to attend study hall
You may leave at lunch if your AP class is after lunch
Tuesdays, depending on our schedule you may leave at the following times 11:20 or 1:15.
If your day starts with an AP class you may arrive at the start of your first non-AP class. When you arrive at school please check in at the HS or Counseling Office
EOY Assessment Week - Parent Chat
Thank you to all that were able to join us virtually this past week for our Parent Chat regarding Assessment Week. As promised in my email, the following are links to both the presentation slides, as well as the actual presentation:

Celebrating our Diverse Cultures - Upcoming Student Event
The HS Compassion Club is sponsoring a high school event for students grades 9 - 12 on May 28 during the school day (12:40 - 1:55). Students are invited to host booths that showcase their cultures.
We would like for each booth to have some food and cultural products and/or practices, as well as a bit about the history/geography of the culture and/or country represented.
We are asking parents to help provide food or snacks from the culture for those high school students who volunteer to host booths. Students should be communicating with you about this event in the coming week.
We also invite parents to contribute to student booths by means of artisanal crafts, artwork, tapestries, music, maps, clothing, games, or any other cultural products to share.
Our diversity enriches us, and we invite parents to support their children in sharing this richness.
ACS Vape Awareness - Upcoming Event
We had a few individual junior meetings this week for students who didn’t make it to their previous meetings. Any outstanding meetings with Ms. Kurdi must be scheduled with Ms. Ellen ASAP. During this round, each meeting will be followed up with an email to the family for a short update and an invitation for the parents to schedule a meeting as well. If you have not heard from Ms. Kurdi yet then this indicates that your junior has not yet had their individual April meeting, so please reach out to Ms. Kurdi for your parent meeting at your earliest convenience and prior to the last week of school. The parent meetings that took place already have been a great way to continue our partnership in supporting our students.
Seniors’ final check-ins with Ms. Kurdi are almost done! Seniors experience a lot of different emotions as they transition to the next phases of their lives, and we are all here to support them and reassure them as they move forward. Most seniors have updated MaiaLearning and completed a check out form to make sure that final documents are sent to the correct institutions.
