Ms. Molly Nielsen
Thank you to everyone who joined us virtually for the MS Parent chat this week which focused on social media, phone use, and screens. It was a great conversation which we will continue into next year. Please take a look at the slides and reach out if you would like to chat more or share any feedback.
MS Parent Chat Slides April 29
MS Map Testing has wrapped up this week. We are currently working on make ups for students who missed or need a little additional time. MS MAP scores wil be shared with families at the end of the year with report cards.
I hope you all enjoy your long weekend and the beautiful weather! It’s hard to believe that when we return it will be mid May and the countdown to the end of the school year will be starting!
Arabic Level E students embarked on a captivating adventure to the historic Amman Citadel! This exciting field trip brought their classroom learning about Jordan's significant landmarks to life. Students explored the ruins and structures firsthand, gaining a deeper understanding of the diverse civilizations that shaped the country's rich past.
Walking through the Citadel was a truly immersive experience. Students were stunned by the ancient relics, sparking their curiosity and imagination. This trip proved to be a valuable learning experience that will undoubtedly stay with them for years to come!
Dear Parents,
Save the Date! Thursday, May 9th from 6:00 - 8:00pm(or 8:30 for 8th graders) is our final Middle School Social of the year--the Spring Dance. Below are a few key pieces of information for those students who are planning to attend (and a special note, at the end, for you):
Scorpion Council has been looking for ways to use our time, resources, and events to support the wider community. As such, we have invited Collateral Repair’s Hope Workshop to come sell some of their creations at our event. Students are invited to bring additional money in order to purchase items
First: Students must have bought a ticket ahead of time to enter the Social.
Cost of ticket is 10 JDs. This covers entrance, food, and drink and provides each student with a 2 JD voucher for CRP’s Hope Workshop, which will be selling at the event.
Tickets are available in Mrs. VanCleave's Room (404) from Monday, April 29 through the end of the day Tuesday, May 7th. (3:05 p.m.).
Second: Unless actively involved in Scorpion Council, students are expected to leave school after school or their After-School Activity and return to the Dance at approximately 6:00.
Third: The Social is a fun time for students to interact; we expect them to continue to demonstrate the respectful behavior that we see at school. Unless specially noted, all school rules remain in force.
Fourth: The Social is only two hours long for 6th and 7th graders, and two and a half hours for 8th graders. As such, we ask students to stay for the entire time. Parents may begin picking up their Middle Schoolers at 7:45 p.m.
Fifth: Please note that this is a Middle School semi-formal event: as such, we ask students to dress one level nicer than the way they might dress for school. It’s an opportunity to have fun and “dress up” a bit. Having said that, fancy dresses or suits are not required (or even expected), and in the past, many have opted for tennis shoes along with nicer clothes in order to continue to be comfortable throughout the night.
Finally: we recognize that Thursday night traffic is NOT ideal. So we will again open up a space set aside for MS Parents. We will have coffee, tea, and cookies available for you. Come read, chat, work--whatever you want to do in order to avoid additional driving in Thursday evening traffic!
In addition, if you would be interested in perusing the items from CRP’s Hope Workshop, you also are invited to shop.
If you have additional questions, feel free to contact Molly VanCleave or Sarah Sisco, Scorpion Council Advisors (mvancleave@acsamman.edu.jo ssisco@acsamman.edu.jo).
Good afternoon students and parents!
I'm excited to announce a charity event organized by two dedicated grade 11 students, Michel Marto and Tayseer Abdeljaber, to support the Paces Charity in Jordan, which provides after-school sports programs for refugees in Jordan. This engaging event is set for Saturday, May 25th, first session (grade 4-6) from 10-12 and second session (grade 7-9) from 12-2. We'll feature 14 different inflatable games on the ACS field, including massive slides, basketball hoops, Connect Four, football speed cages, darts, and more, along with plenty of food and drinks.
To ensure everyone enjoys their time, we'll split the event into two sessions for different age groups: grades 4-6 and grades 7-9, each lasting two hours. During these sessions, children from Paces in similar age groups will join us, providing a fantastic opportunity for our students to socialize and make new friends. At every game we will have a high school student and/or teacher making sure everyone is having fun safely
Regarding the entry fees, students have a minimum contribution of 10 JD. A single parent of an elementary and middle school student can join for free (this is to make sure the field is not overcrowded). Additional parents have a minimum contribution of 5JD. We welcome any additional donations to further support this valuable cause.
Let's unite for a day of fun and help make a significant impact. Tickets will be sold from May 12th-May 23rd. If interested, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/sfnWUJwSTN3Zy4nK8
