Ms. Molly Nielsen
Dear MS Families,
This afternoon our MS community gathered together to celebrate the learning that took place in explore over the last semester. The ACS Explore block is a 30-minute service learning experience for middle school students. This program connects our student's curiosities with our school-wide commitment to Global Advocacy. Students collaboratively use the stages of service learning to solve problems they identify and want to take action on. At the end of each exploratory cycle, students host a showcase where they will share their learning with an authentic audience.
This program focuses on these important transferable skills:
Collaboration
Self Regulation
Social Competency
Inquiry
Communication
Perspective Taking
Action
A few highlights from our service learning projects include:
Origami project - collaborative art project between ES & MS students
Math extension project - redesign of the MS commons area and trip planning
Literacy action group - cleaned up ACS book storage spaces and donations to CRP
Compassion club - fundraising for humanitarian aid in Gaza
Empowerment project - house color kickball and volleyball tournaments during MS lunch on Thursdays for all MS students to participate in
Care for animals - cooking project with ES student to create dog treats as a fundraiser for Al-Rahmeh animal shelter and the creation of animal shelters to donate
Precious plastics group - schoolwide recycling campaign with ACS collection points
Climate action - partnered with APN, cleaned and maintained our ACS garden
Talent show project - hosted a MS wide talent show to build community and fundraise for Jordanian Food Banks
Warmly,
Molly
Please note that we will not have ASAs on May 29th due to graduation. All of the school buses will be used for the graduation ceremony in Jerash
Thank you to all who helped make last Thursday’s Spring Dance a huge success!
Scorpion Council students put in hours of time planning and preparing for the event (as well as working on the day/night of!), Explore students helped finalize plans in the few days before the dance, teachers chaperoned, Ms. Aseel & Mr. Mohammed (Abu Ziyad) helped bring together supplies. Wahid, Ahmed, & Abdul Aziz stayed to make sure things went well, the guards kept us safe . . . and nearly 140 Middle School students came together to dance, sing along to their favorite songs, eat, drink, and have a great time together.
Some of you (parents) have asked to see pictures. Here is a folder of what we have!
PACES Field Day Event - Canceled

Our partners at PACES, whose involvement is essential for the planned activities, are unable to participate this May. We are committed to ensuring a complete and enjoyable experience for everyone involved and believe a postponement is the best course of action.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to your enthusiastic participation next year. Thank you for your continued support and flexibility.
