Ms. Joelle Basnight
I hope everyone had a great long weekend and feels energized for the final few weeks of the school year!
This year the Board of Trustees, Educational Leadership Group and Strategic Advancement Team has been hard at work writing a “value proposition” for ACS. Such a statement represents the value our school holds in its current form and speaks to what makes our “product” stand out from the rest on the market. This statement differs from an aspirational mission statement and is firmly grounded in the “here and now.” We would love your feedback on our draft statement by completing a two item survey (what connects with your current experience and what might we have missed).
ACS DRAFT VALUE PROPOSITION
Our diverse and compassionate community supports learners to explore challenges and navigate perspectives through a comprehensive US curriculum while creating local and global connections.
A call to action by clicking to learn more about:
Advocacy - ACS students investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas and take action for self and others.
Experience - ACS students engage in a robust co-curricular program that includes local and global travel.
Diversity - ACS students belong to an inclusive community which encourages individual growth.
Many thanks to the 47 families who completed the community survey. Your responses represented about 10% of our student population. While the response rate was not high enough to draw definitive conclusions, here are some “high” and “low” points indicated by respondents.
Overall, there was strong agreement (high percentage of strongly agree/agree) with general campus safety, the physical safety of students, offering a welcoming atmosphere to parents and the responsiveness of school personnel (including administrators, teachers and counselors).
There was less agreement, or satisfaction, with our food service provider as well as the number and quality of our extracurricular offerings.
All relevant managers have received a full dashboard of the results so they can set goals for improvement accordingly. Comments have also been shared with relevant personnel. Thanks again for the feedback!

The group explored strategies and practices for fostering service learning and engaging with community partners. Additionally, the schools sought to expand their collaborative partnership to learn from one another.
