Ms. Michelle Alzamora
Dear Families,
This school year, teachers of students in KG - grade 5 will be sending home updates at the end of each math unit. The intent of these updates is to give you and your child(ren) a sense of how they are doing in math and what you can do at home to support your child’s ongoing growth as a mathematician.
As you read these reports it is important to keep in mind that these reports only contain feedback about our mathematical concept standards (I.e. Algebra, Number Sense, Geometry, etc…). They do not contain information about your child’s attainment of our Standards for Mathematical Practices (i.e. problem-solving, modeling, or communication of reasoning skills). Both the concept and practice standards will be reflected on the semester report cards.
At the top of the updates, you will see your child’s level of understanding categorized as:
Not Assessed – The student did not take the assessment or this standard will be assessed in a later unit.
Emerging – The student is developing in this area and needs additional support to fully understand the concepts.
Approaching – The student shows partial understanding of the concepts.
Proficient – The student demonstrates a solid understanding of the concepts being assessed.
Please reach out to your child(ren)’s teachers if you have any questions.
Yours,
Michelle
