Dr. Jeff Wilusz
Good Afternoon
The second semester begins with new energy and opportunities for growth. We have exciting plans ahead, and we're thrilled to continue the academic journey with your child.
If your child has new classes this semester, we encourage you to reach out to the respective teachers. Building a strong parent-teacher partnership is crucial for student success. Don't hesitate to inquire about the curriculum, expectations, or any other information that will contribute to your child's positive learning experience.
Our teachers are here to support both you and your child. Whether it's clarifying assignments, addressing concerns, or simply staying informed about classroom activities, open communication is key. We believe that a collaborative effort between parents and teachers leads to the best outcomes for our students.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if there's anything we can assist you with. We look forward to a productive and successful second semester together!
25-26 Course Selection Virtual Presentation (January 21 @ 5:00 p.m. Via Google Meet)
We invite all parents of 8th through 11th graders for an overview of HS course offerings for the 25-26 school year. We will introduce the course offerings and help you as you guide your child through the scheduling process. The ACS schedule is built around student requests so this is the most important step in the process. Students will receive information earlier, so they do not need to be present. We highly encourage parents to attend! We will be sending the meeting link on the Monday prior to our talk.
High School Service Week - Mr. Hourani
I am delighted to announce that our High School Service Week will take place from May 18 to May 22.
This year, we are focusing on supporting our local community in Jordan, suspending international trips to strengthen connections with local organizations and projects. Students will engage in meaningful service experiences, offering them the chance to make a lasting impact on our community.
For this year, students will sign up for one service experience for the entire week, with some opportunities including overnight stays. This allows students to fully immerse themselves in a single project and gain a deeper understanding of the work they are undertaking.
Please note the following important details:
Service Opportunities
We are offering a variety of service experiences, including partnerships with well-known local entities that support service learning connections. Opportunities range from free options to those requiring a nominal donation to the hosting organization. Overnight experiences will also be available, with associated costs ranging between 500 JODs and 1000 JODs, depending on the experience.
This year’s planned experiences include:
Diving Certification and Beach Clean-up in Aqaba
Service Work and Explore Jordan – Wadi Rum, Feynan, and Madaba Trip #1
Service Work and Explore Jordan – Wadi Rum, Feynan, and Madaba Trip #2
Jordan Trail – Trail Marking and Trail Clean-up
Work with the Collateral Repair Project
Volunteer at the Children’s Museum
Animal Welfare Work – Al Rahma for Animal Welfare and the Humane Society for Animal Welfare
Wellbeing Course at Orenda Tribe
PlastiKa – Internship with Petra Orfali
Clima Fresk – Work on Climate Change
Lifeguard Training
Books and More – Work with public schools and creating libraries
Financial Literacy Course and internship at banks
APN Planting Trees
On Campus – Variety of Service Activities
Schedule
Service Week will replace regular classes to allow students to dedicate their full attention to their service projects. Please note that there are both local day trips (8 AM - 3 PM) and overnight options available this year.
Sign-Up Process
We will roll out information to parents and students in February. There will be opportunities to address questions during Parent-Teacher Conferences before the sign-up process begins in March.
Sign-Up Details: Students will choose their top three preferences, and placements will be based on availability.
FLEX Planning: Once sign-ups are finalized, students will meet during FLEX periods to plan and prepare for their Service Week experiences.
Mandatory Participation
Participation in Service Week is mandatory for all high school students. If your child does not sign up, they will be placed in an available experience.
Support and Communication
We encourage you to discuss the available service options with your child when the information is shared. Details about any required payments, documentation, or planning will be communicated clearly throughout the process.
We believe this year’s Service Week will offer students a profound opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute meaningfully to the local community. Thank you for your continued support in making this initiative a success.
Best regards,
Mo Hourani

We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! We are starting 2025 with a deep dive into the course selection process. All students in grades nine through eleven have received information about the course selection process for next year, and students in grades nine and ten have drafted on their 4 year plans during Flex. Over the next few weeks, students are encouraged to talk with their parents and teachers about recommendations regarding courses for next year, as well as thoroughly review the Program of Studies. Additionally, students will have individual meetings with an administrator or counselor to review their course selections and ask questions; students in grade 9 will meet with Mr Wilusz, students in grade 10 will meet with Ms Collings, and students in grade 11 will meet with Ms Kurdi. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, or to have a discussion regarding your student’s course choices. We also look forward to seeing you at the Course Selection Virtual Presentation for parents on January 21st.
Seniors who are US citizens are encouraged to fill out the FAFSA, which is now open! Lots of online videos and resources are available to guide students and parents through the process.
