Dr. Jeff Wilusz
Good Afternoon
As we approach the final stretch of the semester, I want to take a moment to note my gratitude for your continued support and partnership. This upcoming week of assessments, projects, papers, and presentations is a busy time for our students, and your encouragement and involvement play a vital role in helping them succeed.
I also want to commend the dedication and hard work shown by both our students and their families. Your commitment to their education and success is deeply appreciated and integral to our collective efforts.
Please note the adjusted dismissal schedule for this upcoming week:
Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and *Thursday: Students will be released at 11:35 AM.
*Thursday: High school students without makeup assessments are not required to attend school on that day,
Tuesday (Late Start): Students will be released at 12:35 PM.
Thursday, December 19, marks the final day of the semester. However, report cards will be available on Thursday, January 30, through PowerSchool. Thank you for your patience as we finalize assessments and ensure that all records are accurate and complete.
HS Learning Series: Assessment Purpose - Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to Wednesday’s HS Learning Series around Assessment Purpose. As promised, the following are the documents/videos we went over:
We house our Learning Series sessions in the “Important Dates & Quick Links” section of the WGO for you to access at your convenience. We look forward to seeing you all again at our next Learning Series in January!
Tenth grade students have all meet with Ms Collings during Cohort to review ACS graduation requirements, college admissions recommendations, and update their four year plans accordingly. The four year plan will be a tool to help guide their course registration choices when we return from winter break. While the focus of next week should be on finishing the semester well, tenth graders are welcome to start meeting with Ms Collings now, if they’d like to discuss their academic planning journey.
Juniors are meeting individually with Ms. Kurdi to review their current progress, explore future options, and plan their upcoming course selections. Juniors who missed their meetings can reach out to Ms. Ellen to schedule an online session. It’s essential for every junior to evaluate their academic and extracurricular profiles, which they’ve been doing by answering thoughtful reflection questions. This process helps them consider their next steps and identify pathways for growth, enabling them to pursue their passions, deepen their learning, and channel their curiosity effectively. They are also encouraged to make intentional use of their time outside the classroom.
As always, seniors are reminded to prioritize their learning at this time. A lot of application deadlines fall within the upcoming holiday, and seniors should continue to work on their applications during the holiday in order to meet their deadlines. They are also encouraged to follow processes well ahead of time, and not leave anything to the last minute. Should you have any time-sensitive questions or concerns, feel free to email Ms. Kurdi who will periodically be checking her inbox over the holidays.
US citizens are encouraged to fill out the FAFSA, which is now open! The first email we received to announce this came to us from UW-Madison, who also said, “Even if your students believe that they will not qualify for federal financial aid, it's still important to submit one, as many scholarships and grants still require a FAFSA® for consideration.”
They also reminded us of these resources:
"Who's the Parent on the FAFSA® Form?" Wizard – A new, stand-alone tool to help students and families determine who will need to provide contributor information on the 2025–26 FAFSA® form prior to starting the application.
"Creating Your StudentAid.gov Account" Page – A new resource that explains what families and partners need to know about creating a StudentAid.gov account.
Pro Tips for Completing the FAFSA® Form – Updated tips for preparing to complete and submit the FAFSA® form. This resource will also be linked from the StudentAid.gov Dashboard to promote easier access for students and their required contributor(s).
Federal Student Aid Estimator – The tool provides an estimate of the 2025–26 Student Aid Index and Federal Pell Grant eligibility calculation.
Federal Student Aid YouTube Channel: FAFSA® Videos – Updated videos to help students and families understand the importance of the FAFSA® form, who is a FAFSA® contributor, and what happens after submitting the form.
