Dr. Jeff Wilusz
Good Afternoon
In today’s educational landscape, strong relationships between teachers and students are critical to academic success and personal growth, an area we are always trying to emphasize at ACS. Research consistently shows that when students feel connected to their teachers, they are more engaged, motivated, and resilient in the face of challenges (Hamre & Pianta, 2006). Positive teacher-student relationships not only support academic achievement but also foster a sense of belonging that enhances overall well-being (Hattie, 2009).
At our school, we are committed to fostering these meaningful connections by creating supportive, student-centered learning environments. However, the partnership between school and home plays a key role in strengthening these relationships. Here are two ways you can help facilitate this connection:
Encourage Open Communication – Talk with your child about their school experiences and interactions with teachers. Help them see their teachers as resources and allies, reinforcing the importance of seeking support when needed.
Support a Growth Mindset – Remind your child that learning is a process, and challenges are opportunities for growth. When students believe that effort leads to improvement, they are more likely to engage with their teachers and take ownership of their learning.
We appreciate your ongoing support in creating an environment where students can thrive. If you have any questions or insights, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
HS Learning Series - Adjustment
Due to the Ramadan schedule, we will be posting a screencast of our next HS Learning Series (Accurate Interpretation) that will be made available on March 24th. Please feel free to view at your convenience.
It was nice seeing many of you during Parent/Teacher Conferences today. We hope that you had positive, productive conversations with your child’s teachers. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Juniors will be seeing a lot more of Ms. Kurdi in the upcoming months. This semester they will have sessions together that tackle topics like essays, personal statements, college searches, recommendations, and so much more. The college application process is full of details, and we will all work together to complete tasks one by one according to a tried and tested timeline. This week, juniors took a close look at creating the balanced college list by thinking about factors that matter to them and using search features in Maia.

It’s always great to host such visits that provide opportunities for our students to interact with universities directly and have all their questions answered.
