Dr. Jeff Wilusz
Good Afternoon
Tonight is a special evening at ACS Amman as our students take the lead in creating meaningful experiences for our community. From 6:00 to 8:00 PM, the Student Council is putting on our annual Community Iftar, a wonderful opportunity to come together in the spirit of reflection and connection.
Alongside the Iftar, the Compassion Club's Rice Drive has been in full swing, demonstrating the generosity and empathy that define our student body. These efforts directly support those in need, reinforcing the values we hold as a school.
Later tonight, our seniors will gather for the Senior Lock-in, a well-earned celebration of their journey through high school. This student-driven event is a chance for them to create lasting memories as they approach the final stretch of their time at ACS.
Each of these events embodies the mission of ACS Amman—our students take initiative, lead with purpose, and contribute meaningfully to the world around them. While students are at the heart of these initiatives, we also recognize the dedicated adults working behind the scenes to make them possible. A special thank you to Ms. Sulieman, Ms. Iman, Mr. Hourani, and Ms. Hayes for their support and guidance.
Attendance Reminder - We have noticed an uptick in students being pulled from school throughout the day and want to remind families of the attendance expectations as stated in the HS Family Handbook:
ACS is committed to the view that consistent school attendance is vital to the long term academic learning and personal success of each student--nothing can make up for time missed from a classroom environment involving discussions, lectures, experiments, and other collaborative experiences. Therefore, we do not differentiate between “excused” and “unexcused” absences.
The Student Council is looking for performers for the Cultural Carnival April 15th This is a wonderful performance opportunity for you (and your friends) to celebrate diversity through the performing arts! Please see the flyer and scan the QR code for more information.
It is hard to believe that we are here already, but we are in the early stages of welcoming new students to campus next year. Thank you to all of the students who submitted applications to be New Student Ambassadors to welcome their new classmates, and help plan New Student Orientation.
This week, representatives from the American University of Beirut Mediterrano and McMaster University visited our campus. Our students had the opportunity to ask great questions and learn about the latest updates directly from the representatives. Providing these direct conversations with universities across the globe for our students continues to be a priority for us. Next week, we have a representative from the University of Chicago during lunch at 1.15pm on Monday, March 24th in Room 127! We invite all high school students and parents to come and learn more about competitive US admissions in general and about the University of Chicago specifically.
