Dr. Jeff Wilusz
Good Afternoon
This week marks a big moment for our High School community: our Seniors will complete one of their final milestones with their last day of class today. At the same time, students are wrapping up AP exams and preparing for Service Week, a collection of experiences that reinforce our belief that meaningful learning happens beyond the classroom.
Your encouragement, flexibility, and partnership as parents have been remarkable, especially over the past week. The positive messages and support for Service Week speak volumes. You've embraced the idea that real-world experiences shape character and deepen understanding. For that, we’re genuinely grateful.
We’re committed to continuous improvement, and this week is no exception. Once Service Week concludes, we welcome your feedback. Your perspective helps us make these experiences even more impactful for future students.
After the AP Exam
Once your AP exam is completed, your AP class becomes a study hall for the remainder of the year. The following guidelines apply:
If your AP class is at the end of the day, you may leave campus. To do this, attend the class, request a blue pass from your teacher, and check out.
If you have two AP classes back-to-back, you may leave campus at the start of the first one.
If you have a study hall adjacent to your AP class, you are not required to attend study hall.
If your AP class is after lunch, you may leave campus at lunchtime.
On Tuesdays, depending on the schedule, you may leave at 11:20 AM or 1:15 PM.
If your school day begins with an AP class, you may arrive at school at the start of your first non-AP class. Please check in at the HS Office or Counseling Office when you arrive.
HS Assessment Week
May 28-June 2 marks our formal Assessment Week, with final unit assessments administered across all subjects. This will be students' only scheduled opportunity to demonstrate their learning before the semester ends on June 4th. Please note that early assessments will not be offered. Students who miss assessments during this window will likely have limited evidence for teachers to evaluate, which may impact their final grades. During Assessment Week, students will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m. each day. Transportation will be available for students who regularly ride the bus, as long as they fill out the Assessment Week Bus Form.

A sincere thank you to all of the parents and students who were able to participate in our ES/ MS/ HS Family Transition Night on Wednesday. We know that this has been a challenging year for many of our families, and we were glad to have an opportunity to help families with these important conversations.
We welcomed the Deputy Director of Admissions from Rice University who answered questions and engaged with the students in great conversations about university life and programs. This marks the last of the university visits for this semester. Universities have already started contacting us for next year, and it looks like we’ll be hosting lots of representatives beginning in September!
Thanks to all the parents who attended the online sessions that were focused on US admissions and Canadian admissions. Ms. Kurdi will be offering two more sessions next week as part of a series of online presentations designed to support Grade 11 families as they support their students through the college application process. These presentations are entirely optional but highly encouraged for those who would like to stay informed and involved.
Each session will cover a specific area of the world, and there will be time for Q&A at the end. These presentations are entirely optional but highly encouraged for those who would like to stay informed and involved.
