Dr. Jeff Wilusz
We’re proud to share some highlights from our recent Service Week, an experience that powerfully reflects the values and vision of an ACS education.
At ACS, we believe education must go beyond academics. It should challenge students to engage with real-world issues, act with empathy, and lead with purpose. Service Week is a direct extension of this belief. It offers our students the chance to put learning into action and to contribute meaningfully, work collaboratively, and grow as individuals committed to something larger than themselves.
Throughout the week, students took on a variety of service projects, from planting trees to organizing a Field Day for our youngest learners. Their energy, compassion, and leadership were unmistakable. These weren’t just school activities, they were authentic learning moments that developed critical life skills: adaptability, initiative, teamwork, and social responsibility.
We’re deeply grateful to the parents who supported their children in this journey. Your encouragement was instrumental in making these experiences possible. As we continue to refine and expand these opportunities, we welcome your feedback and ideas so we can keep strengthening what we believe is an essential part of our program. If you would like, please fill out the 24/25 Service Week Family Feedback form and we will review it in preparation for next year's work.
At ACS, we’re not just preparing students for the next grade, we’re preparing them for life. Service Week is one of the ways we do that.
AP Thank you!
This Friday will wrap up our on-site AP testing. A huge thanks to Ms. Ellen Hindeleh, who does an absolutely amazing job as our AP Coordinator and ensures that each and every testing session goes as planned. A well organized and efficient system is one of the building blocks for a successful testing atmosphere for students.
HS Learning Series #7
Thank you all to those who have kept up-to-date with our HS Learning series sessions. Our intent for this was to give families a peek into the behind the scenes process that goes into our teaching and learning, with an emphasis on demystifying some of the potential unknowns of education. We will continue to have these accessible via the WGO into next school year.
HS Assessment Week
May 28-June 2 marks our formal Assessment Week, with final unit assessments administered across all subjects. This will be students' only scheduled opportunity to demonstrate their learning before the semester ends on June 4. Please note that early assessments will not be offered. Students who miss assessments during this window will likely have limited evidence for teachers to evaluate, which may impact their final grades. During Assessment Week, students will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m. each day. Transportation will be available for students who regularly ride the bus.
Many of our students have been busy taking AP exams these last few weeks! The end of the school year always brings a bit of controlled chaos. Next week, most students will be off campus, putting their skills to work throughout Jordan during Service Week, a small academic respite before assessment week. The end of the year can bring added stress, and the Counselors are here to support students who may need extra support.
Thanks to all the parents who attended the online sessions this week, which were focused on UK university admissions and European university admissions. This marks the end of the series of online presentations designed to support Grade 11 families as they support their students through the college application process. The presentations will be emailed to all Grade 11 families.
Next week, juniors will be involved in some brainstorming sessions to get the ideas flowing for those college essays and personal statements. The aim of these sessions is to get them thinking about content and structure, and they are encouraged to continue their work and finalize all essays over the summer. Ms. Kurdi will be happy to give feedback to our rising seniors throughout the holiday. Their senior year will be a super busy one, and the more they can get off their plates beforehand, the better!
