Good Afternoon
While debates may arise over the merits of various holidays, Thanksgiving holds a special place in the hearts of many Americans. Its simplicity is part of its charm—minimal expectations beyond gathering with loved ones, sharing a meal, and reflecting on the blessings in our lives.
Since 1983, ACS has celebrated this spirit of gratitude with a beloved tradition: a community Potluck organized by students and guided by the Student Council.
The term "potluck" originated in the 16th century and referred to "the luck of the pot"—a meal provided for an unexpected or uninvited guest (Wikipedia). This year, our celebration extended that hospitality to include individuals from the CRP and key members of the ACS community, such as maintenance staff and drivers. Together, we shared a meal and enjoyed performances by our talented students.
Expressing thanks to everyone who contributed to this event would be an endless task, but on behalf of the High School community, we wish you a restful and joyful holiday!
HS Assessment Week Bussing - If you have a child who regularly rides the bus and would like them to have access to this during assessment week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday / December 15-18), please take a moment to fill out the Assessment Week Bussing Form prior to Monday, December 9 @ 12:00 p.m. Please note that students will have a supervised space for them to be in the event that they would like to take the regular bus home at 3:10.
HS Arts Showcase & Music Concert
Join us to celebrate the Musical Arts at ACS (see poster below). Lobby doors open at 5:30 with a few special pre-concert performances. See you there!
Please join us for a celebration of HS visual art and creative writing including conversation with a panel of community creators sharing their inspiring, artistic journeys. Additionally, select artworks will be available for purchase, with all profits donated to support The Jordanian Food Bank. We look forward to welcoming you on Dec 9 at 3.15.
Happy Thanksgiving to our students and families who celebrate, and have a wonderful long weekend
US citizens are encouraged to fill out the FAFSA, which is now open! The first email we received to announce this came to us from UW-Madison, who also said, “Even if your students believe that they will not qualify for federal financial aid, it's still important to submit one, as many scholarships and grants still require a FAFSA® for consideration.”
They also reminded us of these resources:
"Who's the Parent on the FAFSA® Form?" Wizard – A new, stand-alone tool to help students and families determine who will need to provide contributor information on the 2025–26 FAFSA® form prior to starting the application.
"Creating Your StudentAid.gov Account" Page – A new resource that explains what families and partners need to know about creating a StudentAid.gov account.
Pro Tips for Completing the FAFSA® Form – Updated tips for preparing to complete and submit the FAFSA® form. This resource will also be linked from the StudentAid.gov Dashboard to promote easier access for students and their required contributor(s).
Federal Student Aid Estimator – The tool provides an estimate of the 2025–26 Student Aid Index and Federal Pell Grant eligibility calculation.
Federal Student Aid YouTube Channel: FAFSA® Videos – Updated videos to help students and families understand the importance of the FAFSA® form, who is a FAFSA® contributor, and what happens after submitting the form.
