Dr. Jeff Wilusz
Good Afternoon
We hope you all enjoyed the extended four-day weekend! As we settle back into our routine, we’re excited to share that yearbook pictures are now underway. On the sports front, our Volleyball and Soccer teams have already kicked off their seasons with friendly matches against local AAC schools.
Our clubs are in full swing as well, with the Computer Science Club, HS ISTA, Compassion Club, True Colors, and Art Installation Club all making great strides.
We’re also thrilled to introduce our HS Learning Series, a new initiative designed to provide parents with a clearer understanding of our instructional and assessment planning. In these 30-40 minute virtual sessions, parents will gain valuable insights into our teaching practices, the educational philosophies that guide them, and how they are applied across the high school. Our first session will take place on September 24 at 9:15 a.m. via Google Meet. If you’re unable to join live, no worries—the session will be recorded and shared via the WGO. We look forward to seeing you there!
We invite you to participate in the Fall 2024 Parent Teacher Conferences. There are no classes for students on these dates.
Please understand that the PowerSchool sign-up process applies only to Elementary homeroom, Learning Support, and Counselor conferences.
In High School, we encourage your child to join your PTC, as this is a great opportunity to assist them in taking responsibility for their own learning.
High School parents do not need to meet with Cohort advisors.
The following crossover teachers will be in the Green Room with MS:
Mr. Jason Kennedy
Ms. Erin Yateman
Ms. Claudia Pike
Ms. Talla McIlvain
Mr. Eddie Alzamora
Teachers will be rotating for breaks as follows
For any questions please contact Ms. Iman
We are excited to announce that we are taking part in an awesome collaborative project with Precious Plastics, UN Habitat and Amman Municipality. 18 high school students are working together with women from Gaza refugee camp and Karak to collaboratively design and create two large scale site specific sculptures made from plastic waste. We need your plastic donations to make this happen! Please drop off your collections in the high school art room as soon as possible.
Any questions please email Serena Mackenzie
We hope you and your family enjoyed the long four-day weekend. Students and teachers came back to campus refreshed and ready to learn!
Busy times! Our campus has been welcoming university representatives from across the globe! 38 institutions of higher learning were represented on our campus this week, with two of them providing workshops addressing different applications. It’s wonderful to see our students so engaged, asking great questions, and getting valuable information directly from universities. We are so proud of our High School students, whose respectful nature, excellent research skills, and genuine interest are all noted by representatives when they visit our school. Way to go ACS!!!
Seniors are taking their next steps now according to their needs, goals and aspirations, and we’ll continue to meet individually to make sure they are making informed decisions and progressing in a timely fashion. Despite our busy week, we still found time for an ApplyUSA session to work further on the CommonApp, and the first application of the year has been submitted! Good luck to all our seniors whose hard work and dedication will come through in their applications, no doubt! Seniors’ parents are encouraged to monitor their student’s progress and to keep Ms. Kurdi in the loop with feedback and insights.

CALLING ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND PARENTS TO ATTEND COLLEGE FAIRS!!
Our community’s continued engagement with universities is very important. PARENTS, please attend the fairs! We hosted almost 100 university representatives on our campus last year, and we continue to maintain positive relationships with representatives from universities across the globe. All students and parents are highly encouraged to attend. Not only is it very helpful to students and their families to engage with universities directly, but also some universities track student interest! It also demonstrates to the university our community’s interest in our students’ futures and our commitment to student empowerment.
