Ms. Molly Nielsen
Dear MS Families,
It was wonderful seeing you at conferences today, and we were thrilled to see many students participating in these important conversations. As you reflect on conferences with your child, we encourage you to look for ways to build hope and efficacy in them as they plan for the rest of the school year.
Here are some helpful prompts to pose to your middle schooler to support your conferences and encourage your child to take control of their learning.
What can we celebrate that we heard today?
What next steps did you hear from teachers?
What would an action plan look like based on your feedback today?
How can I help you with that?
What do you want to celebrate at the end of the semester?
Ramadan Considerations in MS
Ramadan Kareem! In middle school, we take the following considerations into place during this special time of year:
Fasting students may choose to spend their lunch in the MS commons which will be a no-eating space during Ramadan. They may also tell teachers they are fasting and find a quiet, supervised classroom to spend lunchtime in.
Hot food and snacks will still be served on campus
ASA’s and sports will run as usual after school
First block will begin at 9:00 am each day
Course Registration Follow-Up
Thank you to those who joined us online for the course registration conversation. The MS Office followed up with an email, and now we are also posting the information for you here:

Art Field Trips:
On Wednesday, our Art II students embarked on an enriching journey to the Lama Hourani Gallery, marking the beginning of their Jewelry and Metalsmithing unit. The primary aim of this excursion was to immerse students in the captivating realm of jewelry design and functionality. By exploring Lama Hourani's exquisite creations, students gained valuable insights and inspiration that will fuel their own creative endeavors. This visit serves as a catalyst for students to fabricate their own unique and personalized jewelry pieces, infused with creativity and skill. As they return to the classroom, our students are brimming with newfound enthusiasm and ideas, ready to embark on their jewelry-making adventure.
On Monday, six-grade students went to Jordan River Designs to explore the local artisans' work. Over the past few days, they have been creating their own unique embroidery pieces inspired by cultures they admire.
This field trip aims to see real-life embroidery on traditional Jordanian and Palestinian objects, allowing students to learn about the rich history and cultural significance behind these beautiful art forms. This experience deepened their understanding of embroidery's role in storytelling and tradition.
Warmly,
Molly
It’s that time of year when we start preparing for the next school year. Current 6th and 7th graders received their course selection forms for next year with instructions and a timeline. This was also shared at our course registration night for families. Below is a recap of important information and dates.
Students choosing to take semester electives need to rank their top 6 choices very thoughtfully. There is a chance they do not get their top two choices so they must be okay with their backup options.
Foreign language changes are very rare however we understand that there are extenuating circumstances at times. If this is your child, please have them set up a meeting with me as a starting point.
Completed forms are returned to advisors with the chance of earning house points,
300 points if the entire advisory turns them in by March 5th
200 points if the entire advisory turns them in by March 6th
100 points if the entire advisory turns them in by March 9th
50 points for any day after that
Students who are not returning for the 25-26 school year will only fill out the top box with their name and a checkmark by the not returning blank and the bottom box with signatures. This ensures we haven’t missed any student in the process.
If you need to print another copy of the form, click here and scroll down to announcements. Print the form for the next year's grade level.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
