Ms. Molly Nielsen
Dear MS Families,
Thank you to all the families who joined us today for parent-teacher conferences. We hope these conversations help you celebrate your child's growth this semester and identify the next steps for their continued learning. As you debrief your child's learning based on teacher feedback, here are some helpful prompts to promote dialogue and cooperation with your preteen.
What did you hear as strengths your teachers see in you?
Were there any surprises in the feedback you received from your teachers? How do you feel about it?"
Is there anything you'd like to work on or improve? How can we, as your parents, support you with that? Your teachers talked about wanting to ensure you feel supported at school for your academics and relationships. Who do you think are your trusted adults at school? How might you start that conversation when needing extra help?
What might help you feel comfortable participating more actively in your classes? How do you like to share your thoughts or ask questions during lessons?
Grade 6 Quarter Wheel Rotation
If you have a grade 6 student not currently in MS Scorpion band, please note that their wheel elective will rotate next week. Sunday, October 20th, the wheel classes will participate in a culminating celebration of learning that showcases their knowledge from their quarter 1 wheel class. On Monday, October 21st, your child will rotate to their new wheel elective. This update will show on their Powerschool schedule. Your child's advisor will also ensure they have updated schedule information to support a smooth transition. We look forward to the new learning opportunities our Grade 6 students will be engaging with soon!
I hope you all have a relaxing and rejuvenating fall break. We will see you back on campus on Sunday, October 20th.
Warmly,
Molly
Middle and High School Arabic classes recently visited the Collateral Repair Project (CRP) to collaborate with refugee children on an inspiring initiative. The refugee children helped edit the students’ Arabic book drafts, offering valuable insights and perspectives. Once finalized, the books will be published and sold, with all revenue going directly to CRP to support their ongoing efforts. This project not only enhances language learning but also fosters a meaningful connection between students and the refugee community.
6 grade students went on Monday to Jordan River Designs to explore the local artisans' work. Over the past few days, they have been creating their own unique embroidery pieces inspired by cultures they admire.
The objective of this field trip is to see real-life embroidery on traditional Jordanian and Palestinian objects, allowing students to learn about the rich history and cultural significance behind these beautiful art forms. This experience deepened their understanding of embroidery’s role in storytelling and tradition.
