Ms. Joelle Basnight
Welcome back! I hope everyone is (re) settling into the rhythm of school.
ACS continues to process the necessary paperwork to procure the villa/lot adjacent to the bus parking while working toward solidified plans for a purpose built Elementary School on that site in the future. CSDA, our international partner in this process, will be on campus the last week of January to speak with teachers and administrators and to work closely with the local firm overseeing the planning and construction. Once we have firm schematics in place, we will share them with the community.
Important Health Update: Keeping Our Community Healthy
As we navigate a season of increased flu and virus cases in ACS and Jordan, we would like to ask for your cooperation in maintaining the health and safety of our school community. Please review the important guidelines and reminders below to help us minimize the spread of illness:
Health Center Protocol
If a student is coughing, sneezing, vomiting, or displaying other symptoms of illness, please send them to the Health Center immediately.
Students with symptoms such as upset stomachs, coughing, or sneezing will be sent home, even if they do not have a fever.
Parents will be instructed to keep students at home for at least 24 hours and monitor for further symptoms. If symptoms persist or worsen, please consult a doctor and let the Health Center know about the results.
Returning to School
Any student who has been sent home or has been absent due to illness must visit the Health Center for clearance before attending class. A written pass from the Health Center will be required for re-entry.
This measure ensures that students returning to school are symptom-free and reduces the risk of further transmission.
Health Checklist
Before sending your child to school, please check for the following symptoms:
Fever (37.5°C/99.5°F or higher) or chills
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Cough, fatigue, muscle aches, headache
Loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, runny nose
Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
Preventive Measures
Encourage frequent hand washing and proper hygiene.
Utilize the alcohol-based hand sanitizers available throughout the school.
Avoid close physical contact, such as hugging or kissing, as a greeting.
Notify the Health Center promptly if your child or a family member is unwell.
Your cooperation is vital in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for everyone. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact our Health Center at hjahshan@acsamman.edu.jo.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our community safe and healthy.
