Ms. Michelle Alzamora
Dear Families,
Reading is one of the best gifts we can give our children. It is more than just a school subject; it is a tool that helps children understand their feelings, learn about the world, and succeed in everything they do.
When children read for even 15–20 minutes a day, amazing things happen:
Stronger Language: They learn new words and improve how they speak and write.
Better Focus: Reading helps the brain stay calm and concentrate on one thing at a time.
Understanding Others: Stories allow children to "walk in someone else’s shoes," which builds kindness and empathy.
Confidence: The more they read, the more confident they feel in all their school classes.
If your child finds reading difficult or prefers games and videos, try these simple steps to make it fun:
Find Their Interests: Let them choose what to read! Comics, books about sports, or books about animals are all great choices. Some kids even prefer reading news written in their level of understanding.
Read Together: Take turns reading pages out loud in English or your home language. This is a wonderful way to spend time together, even as children get older.
Visit Our Library: We have many wonderful books in several different languages. Exploring the shelves together can be an exciting weekly adventure.
Make it a Habit: Try to read at the same time every day, like right before bed or after breakfast, so it becomes a normal part of the day.
By making reading a happy and relaxed part of life, you are helping your child unlock a world of possibilities.
Warmly,
The ES Admin Team

Important Note on Student Supervision
To ensure the safety of our students and the smooth setup of the event, please keep the following campus policy in mind:
Unattended Students: If students are not staying with a parent or guardian after school ends, they must leave campus and return at 5:00 PM when the event begins.
Attended Students: Students are welcome to remain on campus between the end of the school day and the start of the event only if they are under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian.
We can’t wait to see who calls out the first "BINGO!" of the night. See you there!

Common Sense Carpool Conversations - A podcast series that invites adults and kids to talk about the issues that matter most in kids' digital lives. You don't have to be a tech expert to give your kid life lessons about digital well-being. The purpose of the podcast is to start discussions in fun, authentic ways and to encourage sharing (including for the adults). The questions might lead to deeper discussions—or not! Either way, the goal is to nurture empathy, lead with curiosity, and have ongoing conversations that acknowledge we're all in this together.
