Ms. Michelle Alzamora
We have officially entered the final days of the school year. This is a unique season in an elementary school. The classrooms are filled with a mix of high energy, nostalgia, and a bit of fatigue. After months of hard work, routines can begin to feel a little loose, and the countdown to summer vacation becomes a frequent topic of conversation.
During this homestretch, our focus as educators shifts toward helping students finish strong. We want them to remain engaged with their learning while celebrating the community they have built. It is not just about crossing the finish line. It is about crossing it with pride and a sense of accomplishment.
The final weeks of school require a delicate balance between giving children grace for their tiredness and maintaining the boundaries that keep them feeling secure. Here are three ways to support your child during the homestretch:
Keep the Morning Routine Steady: When the weather gets warmer and the days get longer, it is tempting to let bedtime slide. However, our students need sleep now more than ever to help them manage the emotional transitions of the end of the year. Keeping a consistent sleep schedule will help them show up to school ready to focus.
Reflect on Growth: Use the dinner table or car rides to look backward rather than just forward. Ask your child what they are most proud of learning this year, or how they have grown as a friend. Shifting the focus to their growth builds confidence as they prepare for the next grade.
Honor the Goodbyes: For many students, the end of the year means saying goodbye to beloved teachers, routines, or even friends who may be moving away. Acknowledge that these feelings of sadness are normal. Giving them space to write a thank you card or draw a picture for a teacher can help provide closure.
As a reminder, our students will participate in Fly Up Day on Monday, June 1st. This is the day they will get a firsthand look at their next grade level, meet the teaching teams, and ask questions about the year ahead.
By keeping our students grounded in their current routines this week, we are laying the perfect foundation for them to step into Fly Up Day with curiosity and confidence. Thank you for your continued partnership as we celebrate these final weeks together.
Warmly,
The ES Admin Team
We have many exciting activities planned for the last week of school! There are a couple of events that you will need to send items from home to make the day extra special for your child.
June 2 - Day of Play
The ES Student Council is planning a Day of Play for students on June 2nd. The children will go to the field and participate in outdoor activities for 40 minutes per grade level. We will have a water feature this time! To help your child have a great time, please plan for the following
Swim suit or a change of clothes that can get wet
Towel
Sunscreen and a hat
Water Bottle
Closed-toe shoes (just like for PE)
June 3 - ES Read-A-Thon
Students will participate in a Read-A-Thon in their classrooms. They are invited to wear PJs and bring stuffies and pillows to create a cozy place to read. They can also bring books from home, but we do have many books at school!
The Learning Commons invites you to watch the following Book Talk:
📚May 31st: Summer Checkout Begins
As we pack up our backpacks and head into summer break, the LC wants to wish everyone a season full of sunshine and great stories. To keep your reading muscles strong and the imagination flowing, we encourage all our students to keep reading over the break!
Whether you're tackling a new series or revisiting an old favorite, remember that every page counts. We can’t wait to hear your "book talks" when the halls fill back up this fall.
Happy Reading and Have a Wonderful Summer!
Ms. Layali & Ms. Deena

Thank you for your hard work, creativity, and dedication. You kept our library cozy, set up awesome activities, and made the LC a better place for everyone.
New stories, big smiles! Our students loved trading their old favorites for exciting 'new-to-them' reads at this year’s Book Swap.
Happy reading, everyone!
