Ms. Michelle Alzamora
Dear ES Families,
At ACS, we know that every child learns in their own way. One way we work to meet the needs of all students is through Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL helps teachers plan lessons so that all students can take part, stay interested, and show what they know in ways that work best for them.
UDL is a framework for teaching and learning that starts with the understanding that every learner is different. Instead of making one plan and then adding supports later, teachers use UDL to design lessons from the beginning with flexibility and choice built in. This helps all students succeed, whether they need more challenge, more support, or simply different ways to learn.
Check out What is UDL? Universal Design for Learning Explained (3 minutes) for a quick and helpful overview.
UDL is based on three main ideas:
Engagement – helping students feel motivated and curious about learning
Representation – teaching in different ways so everyone can understand
Action and Expression – giving students choices in how they share their learning
