Ms. Michelle Alzamora
Dear ES Families,
Our students have been busy learning, growing, and taking on new challenges each day. One of the ways we support this growth is by helping children build age-appropriate independence in their daily routines. This week, I want to share how we foster independence at school and how you can support it at home.
At ACS, we help students build confidence by giving them chances to practice independence in small but meaningful ways. This can look like organizing their materials, following classroom routines, solving small problems on their own, or taking responsibility for their belongings. These steps help students feel capable and proud of what they can do.
You can support this at home by giving your child simple responsibilities like packing their own snack, choosing their clothes, or setting out what they need for the next day. You can also ask your child to help with small jobs at home like setting the table, feeding a pet, or putting their backpack in the same place each day. Encouraging them to try first before stepping in builds important life skills and helps them learn that effort and practice lead to growth. When school and home work together in this way, students develop the confidence and independence they need to thrive.
As always, thank you for your support at home. Please reach out if you have any questions. We appreciate your partnership.
Warmly,
The ES Admin Team
Please note that we are continuing our previous rainy weather guidelines. We believe that outdoor play is essential for children's physical and mental health, so we want to provide opportunities for students to go outside as much as possible, even on rainy days.
To maximize outdoor play time, we ask that you please send your child to school with weather-appropriate gear, including:
Raincoat or poncho
Rain boots or waterproof shoes
Hat
We will only cancel outdoor recess if weather conditions are deemed unsafe, such lightning, thunderstorms, and extremely slippery surfaces.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us provide the best possible learning environment for your child.
A warm and wonderful Snuggle Up & Read event! Our readers enjoyed cozy corners, great books, and magical moments in the LC.
