Ms. Michelle Alzamora
As we move further into the school year, children are busy thinking, creating, moving, and growing each day. The food they eat makes a big difference in how well they can focus, participate, and enjoy their time at school. Research shows that children who start the morning with a healthy breakfast demonstrate stronger memory, attention, and problem-solving skills. Nutritious snacks and lunches also help them sustain energy, manage emotions, and stay engaged throughout the afternoon.
Start the Day Strong: Oatmeal with fruit, whole-grain toast with avocado, or smoothies with seeds and greens are easy, nourishing options.
Snack Smart: Send snacks that pair protein with complex carbs, such as roasted chickpeas, veggie sticks with hummus, or whole-grain crackers with spreads.
Hydrate: Water is the best choice for keeping children alert and refreshed. Sugary drinks often lead to energy crashes.
Keep It Whole: Choose snacks that are closer to their natural form like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and roasted legumes. These whole foods will help to fuel learning much better than highly processed foods.
We appreciate your partnership in sending healthy snacks and lunches. To help all students make strong choices, we ask that candy, chocolate, and sweets not be included in school snacks or lunches. For birthdays and special occasions, please share a healthy option along with or instead of a sweet treat.
By working together to make nutritious choices at home and at school, we give children the fuel they need to learn, play, and grow with confidence.
Warmly,
ES Admin Team

At school, we teach students to use technology in ways that are safe, kind, and responsible. Families can support this at home by setting clear boundaries around devices. Psychologist Jean Twenge suggests:
Start with a “dumb phone” that allows calls and texts but not social media apps.
Delay social media until at least age 16 to support mental health.
Keep devices out of bedrooms overnight to protect sleep, which is strongly linked to happiness and wellbeing.
By practicing these habits at home, children learn to be safe, kind, and responsible digital citizens both online and off.
The ES Fall Day of Play is coming!
The ES Student Council is planning a fun day for students on October 9th. The children will go to the field and participate in outdoor activities for one hour per grade level. To help your child have a great time, please plan for the following -
Sunscreen and a hat
Water Bottle
Closed-toe shoes (just like for PE)
A change of clothes - we will have limited water activities, but children will have the option of getting wet.
Welcome to all our new students and families!
It has been a joy getting to know your children over these first two weeks of school and to see them settling into their new spaces and building connections.
We’d also love to share with you a video that was shown at our Back to School Morning Meeting. In it, last year’s leaving students offer words of wisdom and advice for our newest scorpions... and there’s even a special cameo from our beloved ES mascot, Wadi! This video gives you a glimpse of the spirit of ACS, and we hope that before long, your family will feel right at home here too.
Check out this book fair at Mecca Mall, it will be there for 1 week!
Our Grade 5 readers are learning to navigate the Destiny Discover catalog to find books that spark their interest and guide them to their next great read.
Our students are getting creative with crochet—building patience, focus, and fun one stitch at a time!
