Mr. Billy Thomas
A huge congratulations to all our Middle Schoolers for finishing their MAP testing this week! I know that sitting for these assessments can be a grind, but I was so impressed by the focus and grit our students showed from start to finish. Even in a year that has asked so much of them, they stepped up and gave it their all. We are so proud of the growth we’re seeing—now that the final test is behind us, it’s time to take a well-deserved breath and celebrate that hard work.
Don't get too settled into your routine just yet—unless that routine involves dressing up! Next week is officially Spirit Week (April 19–23). This is one of our favorite traditions in the Middle School, and we are ready to turn up the volume on our school pride. We’ll be sharing the full list of themed days and activities with students on Sunday morning, so start thinking about your outfits now. Whether you are on campus or joining us virtually, we want to see everyone participating and bringing that Scorpion energy.
To cap off our Spirit Week, we are hosting a Middle School Community Celebration on Thursday, April 23rd. We’ve planned a full day of games, activities, and challenges designed to celebrate our amazing community. It promises to be a day of fun, high engagement, and a bit of Middle School team building.
This week, our Middle School students completed their final MAP test for the 2025/26 school year.
At its heart, our goal is always to see personal growth for every child. We compare results from the Fall to now to see how far each student has traveled in their personal learning journey. While these tests are a valuable point of reference, they are just one of many ways we measure success throughout the year. We are pleased to share that, thus far, we are seeing positive growth trends across the Middle School - and that is worth celebrating.
When you will see results:
Families will be able to view and celebrate their child’s individual results in PowerSchool starting at 3:00 p.m. on June 4.
SPIRIT WEEK & COMMUNITY DAY
Spirit Week (April 19 - 23) isn’t just an excuse to wear pajamas to school—though that’s certainly a perk! We celebrate Spirit Week because we recognize that Middle School can be challenging, and every community needs a moment to pause, let loose, and share a collective laugh. At its heart, Spirit Week is about joy and belonging; during these uncertain times, our kids need that more than ever.
The Theme Days:
Sunday: Pajama Day
Monday: Jersey Day
Tuesday: Teacher/Student Swap Day
Wednesday: Culture Day
Thursday: ACS Spirit Day
Next Thursday (April 23) is our Community Day, where students will participate in games, take on challenges, and work together to continue fostering a sense of joy and belonging within our hallways. We can't wait to see the creativity and school spirit on display!
REMINDER: CAMPUS AFTER HOURS
We know that for many of our Middle Schoolers, the campus feels like a second home, and the temptation to "hang out" after their last class is strong. However, we want to ensure all families are aware of our supervision protocols to keep our students safe. Please note that these protocols have not changed.
Once the school day ends, the campus transitions into a different mode of operation. Please keep the following safety points in mind:
Supervision: We do not have staff providing active supervision in common areas after hours. Having an adult presence is essential for resolving conflicts or addressing property concerns.
Medical Support: The school clinic is closed for after-hours support, meaning immediate professional medical assistance is not available on-site for injuries or emergencies.
Safety Priority: To ensure every student is supported and safe, all students must either be enrolled in a registered after-school activity or depart campus promptly at the end of their last class. If a student is participating in an activity, they are expected to leave campus immediately following its conclusion.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home and helping us maintain a secure environment for all our students.
