Mr. Billy Thomas
Next week, our students will begin our spring MAP testing. I want to remind everyone—especially our students—that these assessments are simply a tool to help us celebrate how much you’ve grown since the start of the year. It isn't about a high-stakes grade; it’s about seeing your individual improvement and identifying the areas where you are truly excelling. All we ask is that you get plenty of rest, eat a good breakfast, and simply do your absolute best. You’ve put in the hard work, and we are excited to see that effort reflected in your progress.
April is always a unique month in our calendar, filled with holidays and shifts in our routine. While these breaks are a wonderful time for family and relaxation, it can sometimes be a challenge to keep our academic rhythm steady. I want to encourage all our students to stay focused and maintain your momentum.
Finally, make sure to mark your calendars for Spirit Week, happening April 19–23! We are already planning some high-energy ways to celebrate our school culture and bring some extra Scorpion Pride to our hallways. We will be sharing more specific details on daily themes and activities very soon, but in the meantime, I want to encourage every single student to join in. These moments of shared fun and community are what make being a Middle Schooler so memorable.
It was wonderful to catch up with so many of our Middle School families during our conferences on March 19. This was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our students' successes and discuss meaningful ways they can continue their growth throughout the rest of the year.
We recognize that not everyone was able to attend, and we want to remind all families that you are welcome to connect with your child’s teachers at any time - not just on official conference days. Maintaining open, year-round communication between school and home is an essential part of every student's success.
SPRING MAP TESTING
Next week, our on-campus students will be jumping into the Spring MAP tests! This is a fantastic opportunity to see a "then and now" of their learning and show exactly how much they have grown since the start of the school year.
There is very little students can do to prepare for these tests other than:
Action Required: Prepare their laptop BEFORE Monday
Be well rested (MS children require 8-10 hours of sleep per night)
Have a good healthy breakfast
Have their laptop fully charged
Be willing to try their best
