Mr. Billy Thomas
As we end the first semester, I want to wish every one of our families a truly wonderful and restful winter break. Whether you are traveling across the globe or enjoying a quiet staycation at home, I hope this time is filled with joy, relaxation, and precious moments with loved ones. Our students and staff have worked incredibly hard over the past few months, and this break is a well-deserved opportunity to unplug and recharge. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus, refreshed and ready to embark on a brand new semester, on Monday, January 6th. Happy holidays to all!
Last week, Grade 6 students visited Jordan River Designs to explore the work of local Jordanian and Palestinian artisans. The trip connected directly to their recent art project, where students created their own embroidery pieces inspired by different cultures.
The visit allowed students to see traditional embroidery up close not just as decoration, but as a meaningful form of storytelling and cultural expression. Surrounded by beautifully crafted objects, students gained a deeper understanding of how design, tradition, and identity are woven together.
This experience supported their creative process and brought their classroom learning to life in an inspiring, real-world setting.
START OF SEM 2
Just a couple of logistical notes about the start of Semester 2:
Students start back on Tuesday, January 6
Classes start at 9:00am so all students should be on campus by 8:50am
It will be DAY 1 (A,B,C,D)
Gr 7 & 8 should check PowerSchool to see their Semester 2 electives
PREPARING FOR SNOW DAYS
As we move into colder weather, we wanted to remind you of our Snow Day process.
If we are notified “last-minute,” there will be no learning expectations set for your children that day.
If we have advanced notice and/or if the snow day extends to multiple days, then Middle and High School students could expect the following:
Online learning from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., regular rotation schedule.
Teachers will post assignments and instructions on Google Classroom by 10:00 a.m., designed for students to work independently at their own pace or synchronously with the teacher present via Google Meet.
During their assigned teaching blocks, teachers will be available online to provide one-on-one support through email, Google Meet, or chat.
We recognize that not all families may be able to participate fully in online learning due to potential outages. Please prioritize your child’s well-being, and know that our counselors are available via email for support if needed.
Throughout the year we will share some resources / quick reads that we believe would be of interest to our MS Families
