Mr. Billy Thomas
It was truly wonderful to hear the energy back in our hallways today. There is a specific kind of magic that returns to a school building when students are present, and seeing their resilience firsthand has been the absolute highlight of my week. At the same time, we are acutely aware that our community feels a bit smaller right now. We deeply miss our students and families who have had to leave the country recently; please know that you remain a vital part of the ACS family, no matter where you are currently located, and we are holding a space for you here.
We also recognize that "business as usual" feels a bit different during times of uncertainty. Our Middle School administration and counseling team are here to walk alongside you as we navigate these challenges together. Whether you need a listening ear, resources for supporting your child’s emotional well-being, or simply a bit of clarity on school logistics, our doors (and inboxes) are wide open. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us; we are fully committed to ensuring every family feels supported, heard, and cared for as we move forward together.
While this week brought a shift to our routine, we couldn't be prouder of how our Middle School community responded. We want to heartily congratulate our students and families for the resilience and flexibility you’ve shown in navigating this new environment so successfully. This week’s progress is a true testament to our community’s strength. We also extend a massive thank you to our dedicated teachers, counselor, and tech support team for their tireless work behind the scenes to ensure that high-quality learning didn't miss a beat.
MS CONFERENCES
Middle School Spring Conferences
Date Thursday, March 19
Time 8:30am - 3:30pm
Venue Stingzone (1st floor, Pool building)
These conferences are a wonderful opportunity to hear about the growth your child has made since October and celebrate the hard work they are doing. We strongly encourage all MS students to attend and take an active role in these conversations about their progress and goals.
A Flexible, Community Format
Middle School conferences are designed to be welcoming and flexible. Similar to the High School format, no pre-scheduled sign-ups are required - simply drop in at a time that works best for you. This open format creates a lively community feel as families connect with one another while moving between stations.
Planning Your Visit
To make the most of your day, please keep the following in mind:
Time Management: Most of our teachers support up to 75 students. To ensure every family has an opportunity to connect, individual conferences are limited to 10 minutes.
Deep Dives: If you feel a longer, more in-depth conversation is needed, you are more than welcome to request a follow-up meeting with the teacher for another day.
Wait Times: Please allow plenty of time for your visit, as there may be lines for certain teachers and some teachers will need to step away for 20 mins to do their own child's conferences.
Teacher Availability
We recognize that your time is valuable. To help you plan, we are sharing the teachers' scheduled break times below:
RAMADAN HOURS
School hours during Ramadan
Classes 8:30am - 2:30pm
ASA 2:45pm - 3:45pm
Please note: students can not be on campus before 8:10am as there is no supervision available.
ATTENDANCE
We are asking all MS families to input absences directly in PowerSchool - PowerSchool parent portal.
This video shows you how to report a student's absence.
Should you have any issues regarding PowerSchool, please contact powerschool@acsamman.edu.jo.
Please check school wide announcement.
UPDATE
Dear Parents,
Please do not worry about library late notices if your family is departing the country over the next few days. We want to ensure your focus remains on a smooth transition, so if you receive an automated message from the Learning Center (LC) while you are away, please feel free to ignore it until your return.
Our team is currently updating our records to reflect student departures. While it may take us a few days to finalize that list in our system, rest assured that we are pausing these expectations for our traveling families.
Also, please remember that the Sora Reading App and Epic! is available no matter where you are! You can access our full collection of eBooks and audiobooks by signing in with your school email. It’s a great way to keep reading on a phone or tablet while on the go.
Please contact us if you have any questions. Safe travels!
