Mr. Billy Thomas
As we enjoy this well-deserved three-day weekend, I hope everyone takes the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend quality time together. It is crucial to use this break to find balance, as we are now entering the final, busy phase of the first semester. The next few weeks will bring increased academic demands, including final projects, assessments, and project submissions. We encourage all students to use the upcoming days to organize their materials, review their class notes, and prepare their minds for the final push. A refreshed mind is a focused mind, and we are here to support every student in finishing the term strong!
Also, please be sure to remember to get ready for a spectacular night of theater! We are absolutely thrilled to announce the upcoming performances of our Middle School production, Into the Woods Junior, on December 4th and 5th! Many of our talented Middle School students have been working tirelessly for months, rehearsing lines, learning complex music, and perfecting the staging of this enchanting and enjoyable musical. This show is a true testament to their dedication and the strength of our Arts program. It’s an event you won't want to miss! Please check the school website for performance times and ticket information, and come out to support our incredible performers.
Lastly, as we move deeper into the season, we want to remind everyone that the weather can be unpredictable and change rapidly, often bringing unexpected rain showers or drops in temperature. To ensure our students stay comfortable and healthy throughout the school day, please help them prepare for these fluctuations. Encourage your Middle Schooler to dress in layers and always bring a light, waterproof jacket or coat to school. Even if the morning starts sunny, having that extra layer and protection against the rain will make a big difference, especially during outdoor recess or PE. A little preparation goes a long way in keeping everyone ready to focus on learning and healthy, regardless of what the weather decides to do.
Arabic F students showcased their inspiring awareness campaign in partnership with Raya, a leading civil society organization dedicated to advancing gender equality in the labor market. Through creative and thought-provoking presentations, students highlighted critical barriers faced by working women—such as the lack of daycares, unreliable public transportation, pay inequity, and limited social protections, and advocate for meaningful change.
Raya’s mission to empower women, particularly mothers, to thrive in the workforce and reach leadership roles aligns with our unit of study "women's Rights" that sparked dialogue between students and other members of the community, Parents, staff members and other Arabic classes. It was great to witness their passion for gender equality and commitment to creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
