Mr. Billy Thomas
Another great week in the books! There is so much happening here, but I'd like to bring your attention to a few important items on our calendar. A crucial parent meeting for our upcoming Adventure Jordan overnight student trip will be held on September 29th at 5pm. This meeting will be a great opportunity to get all the details about the trip, review the itinerary, and ask any questions you may have. We highly encourage all parents to attend so you are fully informed and prepared for this exciting experience.
In addition to our academic and service learning activities, our athletics program is in full swing. Coming up, our U14 volleyball and soccer teams have several home games scheduled. It's always great to see our community come out to support our student-athletes. Please be sure to check the athletics calendar on our school website or the WGO for the specific dates, times, and locations of these matches. We look forward to cheering on our teams together!
Lastly, we are preparing to share the process for viewing your child's recent MAP scores on Powerschool. These scores serve as a baseline measure to help students and teachers understand their growth areas and set learning goals for the year. It's important to remember that these scores are not a judgment of performance but rather a snapshot to help guide instruction. I encourage you to sit down with your student to review the scores and discuss what goals they have for themselves this academic year. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Mr. K’s (Mr. Kennedy) music classes are integrating technology to foster creativity, strengthen music practice, and support productivity.
They are using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) called Soundtrap. This platform allows students to record, edit, and create music with a wide range of instruments, synthesizers, and sound effects. It also supports ensemble practice by enabling students to slow down recordings, loop sections, and apply effects.

Students are also creating a podcast where they interview peers about the challenges of learning an art form.
What exciting examples of authentic projects, relevant to our children!
ADVENTURE JORDAN
Middle School's Adventure Jordan is fast approaching:
Grade 6 - visit Ajloun Oct 8-9
Grade 7- visit Petra Oct 7-9
Grade 8 - visit Wadi Rum Oct 7-9
The children and staff are preparing and the excitement is certainly building.
We cordially invite all our MS families to a family information evening:
Monday, September 29
5:00pm - 6:30pm
ACS Theatre
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Our Parent Teacher Conferences will be on Thursday, Oct 16
It has been shown that children benefit from taking ownership of their learning and we therefore believe it is important that children attend the conferences with their family so they can participate in the conversation.
We will provide more detailed information about the conferences in the coming weeks
CAMPUS AFTER HOURS
Now that we have all settled into our routines, we would like to remind families and children that Middle School children must leave campus by 3:15pm unless they are involved in a supervised activity (ASA's, Musical, Sport).
This is a safety measure as there is currently no supervision.
NO SALES ON CAMPUS
It has come to our attention that MS children are selling products on campus (eg. Toys, candy, trading cards) for personal gain. While we can appreciate their entrepreneurial savvy, this is NOT a practice that is allowed at ACS.
Should your child wish to organize a fundraiser for chairty, they can always speak with Ms. Mac to help organize a sanctioned event.
We will be clarifying for children about NOT SELLING ITEMS on campus, and starting next week if they are found selling products their "stock" will be confiscated and a parent will have to collect the items from the MS Office.
Come Cheer on the Scorpions!
Our teams have a busy schedule ahead, and your energy makes all the difference. Join us at home games to fill the stands and show your Scorpion Pride!
