Ms. Joelle Basnight
The Educational Leadership Group has met to further refine the competencies drafted by the multi-stakeholder group in November. Here is the final draft.
Developing measurable competencies at ACS helps to equip students with the positive mindsets and habits needed to learn, fulfill the school's mission/vision and ensure they are future ready in the human and digital world.
Reasoning - Engaging in deep, flexible, and reflective thinking.
Self-Regulation- Understanding and managing one’s thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
Social Ability - Communicating and working with others across cultures.
The team determined that the digital (and human) world is a part of all learning, so a stand along competency was eliminated. Related skills will be embedded in the three selected competencies (as well as in academic standards). While some additional wordsmithing may take place, the team has now turned their attention to defining 2 - 3 skills per competency and 2 -3 look-fors per skill. These will be shared via the WGO once drafted.
