Ms. Ruth Poulsen
Dear ES Families,
We are so proud to celebrate our very own Nada Arafige and Nadine Shahuan for representing ACS at the Al-Masar 20th Anniversary Forum, "From Diversity to Empowerment"! Presenting to educators and families from all across Jordan, our teachers shared what real, practical inclusion looks like right here in our Elementary Division. Rather than just talking about big theories, they gave participants a hands-on look into our classrooms. They ran powerful dyslexia and ADHD simulations that let adults experience what learning differences actually feel like, and they shined a spotlight on our student-led Inclusion Committee, showing how our kids are taking charge of making sure everyone feels like they belong.
What makes us most proud is how our teachers truly walked the talk. Stepping onto a big stage can be intimidating, but our presenters leaned into the exact courage and growth mindset we encourage in our students every day—whether that meant stepping into a new topic or presenting in Arabic to connect deeply with local educators. They reminded everyone that true inclusion doesn't require a massive, overnight overhaul. It is built in the everyday moments: how we reframe a mistake, adjust a task, and protect a child’s dignity. By stepping out of their comfort zones, our teachers modeled the very empathy and agency we hope to cultivate in our young learners.
At the end of the day, building a school where every child feels seen, safe, and capable is a team effort between school and home. Sharing what works at ACS—and learning alongside other passionate educators across Jordan—only makes our own community stronger. We’d love for you to keep this conversation going at home this week. Try asking your child over dinner: "What's one small thing you did to help a friend or classmate feel included today?" Thank you for partnering with us to build a compassionate environment where every single student can thrive!
Warm regards,
Ruth Poulsen
Session 1 of After School Explorations starts: September 13
Holiday, no school - September 17
Connecting–whether in small conversations or by playing together on the soccer field– is what makes ACS such a special place! Each day is an opportunity to build the strong relationships that make our school feel so welcoming.
The PTG annual Spooktacular event is right around the corner on October 9th, and we need our amazing school community to help make this year's celebration unforgettable!

The Exploration Program (former ASA program) runs for 8 sessions, about an hour each week. Students get a chance to try new experiences in a fun, low-commitment setting. Unlike the Deep Dive Afterschool Activities, Exploration does not include multiple weekly practices or a culminating event.
Session 1 key dates
Program begins: week of September 13
Program ends: November 12
