Mr. Billy Thomas
It has been an incredible week for our Middle School performers and athletes! From the beautiful melodies at the MS/HS Music Concert to the celebration of grit and teamwork at our Athletics Banquet, this week truly highlighted the amazing talents our students possess outside of the classroom. We are so proud of the dedication they’ve shown to their crafts and their teams all year long. Seeing them balance rigorous academics with such high-level extracurricular achievement is a testament to their character and a highlight of our school year.
As we look toward next week, we are heading into a significant assessment period. Our students have been working hard to prepare, and now it’s time to show what they know. I want to encourage all our Scorpions to prioritize rest and a good night’s sleep this weekend so they can arrive on campus ready to go and focused. This is the final lap of the academic year, and we want everyone to feel confident and prepared to do their absolute best.
Finally, I want to warmly invite our entire community to celebrate our Grade 8 students at their Moving Up Ceremony on Monday, May 18th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Theater. This ceremony is the culmination of their entire Middle School experience—a time to reflect on how far they’ve come and to cheer them on as they prepare for the adventures of High School. We know that many of our families and students are still connecting with us from afar, so we are pleased to offer a live stream of the event so that everyone, no matter where they are, can be part of this milestone celebration.
Congratulations to all our Middle School music students for a spectacular Spring Concert! It was a joy to witness the incredible skill and growth of our Scorpion Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and the MS Rock Band. Music is such a vital part of a child's education; beyond the notes on the page, it teaches our learners discipline, collaboration, and the courage to express themselves creatively. The dedication these students showed was evident in every piece they performed.
A very special thank you goes to Mr. Kennedy. His expert instruction, constant support, and ability to motivate our young musicians truly brought the best out of each ensemble. Mr. Kennedy is ending his time at ACS this year and while we will miss his presence in the rehearsal rooms and on stage, we know that the passion he has instilled in our students will live on through their continued love for music and the skills they carry forward into their future ensembles.
HOT OFF THE PRESS!
Since December, Middle School students have been meeting after school once a week to hone their creative writing skills.
We have brainstormed ideas, crafted characters and settings, and explored scenes. We have played around with language and considered how best to "publish" our work.
This is the result of our labors: a collection of scenes from our stories. We hope you enjoy them.

REMINDER: CAMPUS AFTER HOURS
We know that for many of our Middle Schoolers, the campus feels like a second home, and the temptation to "hang out" after their last class is strong. However, we want to ensure all families are aware of our supervision protocols to keep our students safe. Please note that these protocols have not changed.
Once the school day ends, the campus transitions into a different mode of operation. Please keep the following safety points in mind:
Supervision: We do not have staff providing active supervision in common areas after hours. Having an adult presence is essential for resolving conflicts or addressing property concerns.
Medical Support: The school clinic is closed for after-hours support, meaning immediate professional medical assistance is not available on-site for injuries or emergencies.
Safety Priority: To ensure every student is supported and safe, all students must either be enrolled in a registered after-school activity or depart campus promptly at the end of their last class. If a student is participating in an activity, they are expected to leave campus immediately following its conclusion.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home and helping us maintain a secure environment for all our students.

We are asking all MS families to input absences directly in PowerSchool - PowerSchool parent portal.
